About The Event

Welcome to Austria, land of some of the most misunderstood wines and foods in the world. From super crisp, mineral driven white wines to spicy, funky cool red wines and some of the greatest sparkling and dessert wines in the world. We'll start our trip from the Vienna airport Sunday, September 10th and head to the beautiful Alp influenced landscape on the Danube River. We'll spend the next 3 days in and out of some of the greatest wineries and most scenic vineyards overlooking the Danube. Our home for our time in the area will be the centuries old Nigl Winery featuring 10 rooms at the foot of ancient castle ruins among vineyards. We’ll have a tasting Sunday afternoon at Nigl followed with a traditional heurigen dinner near the Danube River. Monday morning we’re up and at em ready to visit one of the young guns and one of the stalwarts of the Wachau. Iconic houses that change your perspective on wines. We'll visit 2 icons FX Pichler to meet the winemaker and wines that changed the wine world. That afternoon we’ll hang out in the vineyards with Karl Lagler for some wine overlooking the river. That evening we’ll head to the village of Langenlois for some free time to sightsee, shop and grab dinner. Tuesday we'll travel to Krems to visit the Gottweig Castle and winery Stift Gottweig and have lunch in the castle at their restaurant. That afternoon we’ll head over to see the one-woman wrecking crew Ingrid Groiss to find out what makes her wines so insane. That evening we’ll dine in the hotel dining room recognized by many as one of the top spots in Austria.

On Wednesday grab the bags as we’re swinging by the outskirts of Vienna to visit Beethoven’s old stomping grounds and a winery overlooking the city. Mayer Pfarrplatz is a winery, 5 star restaurant, heurigen, and museum all rolled in one overlooking one of the worlds greatest cities, Vienna. Vienna is the only capitol city in the world with vineyards in the city limits and it gives a completely different view to the wine world. We’ll enjoy lunch and tasting with a view and some old school classical history. That afternoon we’ll continue south to check into our home for the next 3 nights in ……… where we’ll enjoy a tasting before dinner and eat in their top local restaurant. On Thursday we’ll head to hang out with our great friend Gerhard Kracher to check out his world class still and dessert style wines near Lake Neusiedl. Krachers father was an icon in the wine world for his forward thinking about production in Austria on the Hungarian border. We’ll spend the afternoon on the lake with him for some fishing and a tasting cruise. But what to do with the fish, well obviously this calls for a cookout back in Illmitz at the winery paired with all of Gerhard’s wines.

Our Friday will be spend with one of the other greatest winemakers in the region and a sweetheart of humanity Ms. Heidi Schrock. Heidi is a complete bad ass in the wine world and the nicest person alive, so prepare for a great day of wine and a toothache from how sweet a person she is. We’ll have local cheese and lunch in the vineyard all immersed in the midst of harvest.

This is just a start of what will be an insanely fun week with no less than 8 world class wineries, castles, boat rides, cooking classes, cheese pairings, historical discovery and so much more. Pick up and drop off will be from the Vienna airport on Sunday, September 10th and Saturday, September 16th. As always we promise it will be a trip like no other filled with eye and palate opening discoveries you will never be able to replicate again.

We are holding 12 seats for this trip and will have the final itinerary in mid-March. The price is inclusive of all tastings, accommodations, private bus and driver for the 6 days/nights, cooking class, meals (excluding 2 dinners on own in small villages), taxes and more. Airfare is not included.
