About The Event
Imagine the nicest people in the world welcoming you into their homes, wine cellars and vineyards while they are in the midst of harvesting their grapes off the vines! We'll be in the middle of the greatest time of year to enjoy insane food, world class wine and some of the most picturesque views in the land. From the Andes Mountains to the Pacific Coast we'll see and taste the best South America has to offer.
A soul warming adventure full of empanadas, ceviche, BBQ and 8 awesome wineries for fun, meals and unexpected treats! Our trip will start with our private bus and driver picking us up at the Santiago Airport on Sunday afternoon to transport us to the boutique NOI Hotel in Colchagua. Here we will reside for the next 3 nights in the midst of wine country near the small village of Santa Cruz. Our visits will include the best wineries in the region headlined by Garces Silva, Koyle, Clos Apalta and more. We will also enjoy traditional Chilean lunches in the vineyards and overlooking a world class polo field at Garces Silva. Followed with a winemaker tour of one of the most breathtaking wineries in the world at Clos Apalta, and a visit to Santa Cruz for their traditional harvest festival.
On Wednesday we head towards Almahue Valley to visit our friends at Clos de Luz for a tasting in the vineyard, grape harvesting and lunch at their private residence. After a full day we head to the privately owned Casablanca Boutique Hotel where we will spend our next 3 nights in their eight room inn. In Casablanca we'll see a whole new style of wines near the coast, full of fresh pinot noir, chardonnay's and sauvignon blanc. Our winery list is like a "who's who" of Chile with visits to Villard to pick grapes with Charlie Villard and lunch in his winery. Followed with a cellar tasting at award winning Amanya and sunset dinner overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Our final tour will be held at Casa Marin by one of the most beloved and trail blazing women in the world of wine, Ms. Maria Luz Marin. Here we will be treated to the history of wine in Casablanca, as well as a horse drawn carriage ride through the tiny village Lo Abarca. All followed by lunch in the vineyard.
Our final evening will be spent at our hotel enjoying local grilled meats and fish with the boutique owners. This traditional asado (featuring typical anticucho) will be a dinner to remember, as we toast to another experience of a lifetime with Heathen Wine Tours. On Saturday we voyage back to Santiago to return to the airport. Or possibly enjoy time on your own in one of the greatest emerging food and wine countries in the world.
