About The Event
What could be better than summer in Oregon surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills and the best food and wine the Pacific Northwest has to offer? Nothing! Which is why we are inviting you on this intimate, behind the cellar door tour to meet and hang with icons in the world of wine!
Join us for a visit to the acclaimed Willamette Valley and some of the greatest wines in the world! Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, sparkling wines and so much more. We will visit and taste with ground breaking, rock stars like Ken Wright, St. Innocent and Beaux Freres vineyards. Not to be outdone, we'll meet some of the young guns kicking the cellar doors wide open. Names like Et Fille, Beckham and Constant Crush just to name a few.
Five days and four nights of insane wines, culinary decadence and more laughs, stories and fun then is legal in most countries!
We will spend our time tasting wines from barrel with the winemakers. Dining in their cellars and vineyards and hearing the stories that brought them to vinous fame. All the while with smiles on our faces, enjoying the freshest local produce and learning up close and personal about local tradition.
Have you ever had the chance to learn the art of blending wine from one of the greatest winemakers and vino talents in all the land? We'll spend a day with our dear friends Chad and Bree Stock, MW tasting, giggling and blending our very next Heathen Wines red blend, the 2023 Cuvee Cremisi! Have you ever tasted wine from amphora and know the differences between aging in clay vs. oak? We'll visit our friends at Beckham where they make their own large clay wine amphora and world class wines. How about an afternoon on the dairy farm tasting local cheese and learning the art of making your own? The list will go on and on, but really when will you have this type of vino exposure again?
The experience includes...
Wine blending session with Chad and Bree Stock, MW
Vineyard tour and lunch with Ken Wright of Ken Wright winery
Lunch and wine tour with Mark Vlossak of St. Innocent winery
Lunch and wine tour with Jessica Mozeico of Et Fille winery
A guided cheese tasting, with production and lunch to follow at one of the top artisan dairies in the USA.
Amphora making class and salmon lunch with Beckham Vineyards
Sunday, June 16th - Depart Portland airport to Willamette Valley and our first tasting of the week at the Artists Block studio. Here we'll meet our friend Bree Stock, MW for a conversation about the Willamette Valley. Bree is a Master of Wine, winemaker and old friend of Heathen Wine tours and also makes our Cuvee Cremisi. One of 431 Masters of Wine in the world, Bree is a brilliant educator and award winning winemaker based in Willamette Valley. After we head to our home for the next few days, The Dundee and finish with a locally sourced al fresco dinner at Red Hills Market.
Monday, June 17th - Our day starts with a tasting and tour with our great friend Jessica Mozeico, owner/winemaker of Et Fille Winery. Jessica founded the winery with her father 20 years ago and is the President of the Willamette winemakers asociation. We'll enjoy her wines and sharp wit, as we wander her vineyards on Parrot Mountain. After we head to chill with our friends the Beckhams to catch up on organic wine production. Ever tasted wine from amphora and know the differences between aging in clay vs. oak? Well our cutting edge pals at Beckham are going to host us for a lunch in the vines and show us all the latest and original wine making ideas. Beckham also makes some of the greatest amphora in the states, and ages their wines in a classic old world style of home made clay vessels. We finish our day with  dinner near our hotel, the award winning Dundee Bistro.
Tuesday, June 18th - We are heading south to meet one of the greatest winemakers in Oregon, Mark Vlossak owner/winemaker of St. Innocent Vineyards. A morning of wine tasting, informative tours and conversation followed by a lunch overlooking the vines. After a thrilling start to the day we head to see another all time great winery Beaux Freres. A winery that has won as many awards as any in the country, and was one of the first to commit entirely to organic farming on their estate vineyards. After a day of hanging with legends, we head to the town of McMinnville for some shopping, happy hour and dinner on your own.
Wednesday, June 19th - Today we continue our "behind the scenes" exploration with legends as we head to Constant Crush. Our pals Chad and Bree meet us to explore their new winery, and taste barrel samples in their cellar. We then, as a group taste the wines considered for the next Heathen red wine blend, the 2023 Cuvee Cremisi. That's right, you will help us with our next vintage and the final blend. For lunch we head to a nearby dairy to examine the cheesemaking life and enjoy a picnic on the farm. Fresh cheese, local produce and Constant Crush rose and sparkling wines for lunch. Willamette is as good as it gets!Â
Thursday, June 20th - We check out from The Dundee and head to town of Carlton to end our experience with one of the greatest wine legends in the world. Ken Wright is the OG of the valley, and has mentored several winemakers in the world dating back to the 70's. Renown for his development of local vineyards and wine laws, Ken has shaped the way we think about Oregon wine today. After a tasting and winery tour, we end our experience with lunch at the winery with Ken and his team. Truly an end to the trip that will leave you with a full belly and smiling faces!!! After we head back to Portland for an afternoon drop at the Portland airport.
Only the beginning of what will be the greatest Willamette tour ever! All in all we'll visit no less than 7 wineries, have meals in cellars, wineries and vineyards and drink from winemakers private cellars!
