Virtual Tasting with Clos De Luz winemaker Mr. Gabriel Edwards for a Great Cause!

Join us as we take a trip to Almahue Valley, Chile to taste with winemaker and owner, Gabriel Edwards, of Clos De Luz Vineyard. Chilean wine has changed a lot in the last 20 years and Clos De Luz is one of the leaders in creating these new wines. Join us for a virtual tasting with Gabriel. We’ll hear the story of his family who have been making wines with some of the oldest Carmenere grapes In the world and learn why Gabriel’s wines are a little different and so very special.Clos De Luz is a family winery located in Almahue Valley, known as the birthplace of Carmenere in Chile. The estate spreads over 33 hectares of vineyards, planted in 1945 by Gabriel’s grandmother, Luz. They are some of the oldest Carmenere vineyards in Chile, and probably in the world. For more than 20 years, the grapes were being sold to the renowned Casa Lapostolle, until Gabriel decided to start producing his own family wine.The domaine's vineyards are certified organic and 100% ungrafted from a Massal selection (all genetically identical plants from old vineyards). This method preserves the natural diversity of the plants. Hand harvesting, strict fruit selection, gentle extraction methods, and a judicious use of oak combine to preserve the fruit and create a wine of elegance and balance, with complexity and aging potential. In short, these are not the monster alcohol bombs or mass produced wines of yore! They are precise, fresh, and balanced in a style not typically seen in most of Chile.

We will taste three wines with Gabriel. The signature grape Carmenere. Also, from their portfolio, we will taste a Syrah and a Grenache and gain an understanding of the new focus on these grapes.

This event is a fundraiser for Foundation for New Education Initiatives, Inc. and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.Each ticket includes the three bottles of wine, delivery, and the virtual tasting with the proprietor of Clos De Luz.
